KKR wins IPL season 5 (2012)

So, IPL is finally over and this time we have a new winner in the form of Kolkata Knight Riders. The team performed brilliantly in the finals and outplayed Chennai Super Kings in it. Here are some of the interesting stats about IPL 2012:

  • Chris Gayle scored 733 runs in just 14 innings (at strike rate of 160.74) and is the highest run scorer in this edition. Second highest run scorer is Gautam Gambhir, who scored 588 runs in 16 innings (at strike rake of 144.47)
  • Morne Morkel took 25 wickets in 16 innings (at economy of 7.19). Second highest wicket taker is Sunil Narine, who took 24 wickets in 14 innings (at economy of 5.20).
  • Chris Gayle also got Most Sixes and Highest Individuals. He hit 59 sixes and scored 128 (not out) to achieve these record.

Rahul Dravid retires from International Cricket

Formar Indian Test team captain and now Rajasthan Royals captain today retires from international cricket. Rahul Dravid announced his retirement in a packed press conference in Banglore. He had already announced his retirement from ODI's last year after England tour.

Rajasthan Royals signs Owais Shah

Rajasthan Royals signs Owais Shah (an English Batsman) to fill the space vacated by the retirement of Shane Warne (former Rajasthan Rayal's captain). Born in Karachi, Shah have already played for Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Daredevils and Kochi Tuskers Kerala and is one of the most experienced IPL players. He has also played 17 international T20 matches and has also scored a half century in this format.

Here this is worth mentioning that Rajasthan Royals have already nominated Rahul Dravid as their captain for this season.

IPL Roundup

So, IPL's fresh season is going to start and our craziness is soaring high as well. Since this is a fresh season, here I am going to start with some of recent developments in the IPL circle.

Here are some sports related news:
Ross Taylor have been transferred to Delhi Daredevils in IPL's transfer window. The New Zealand captain has been signed by Delhi Daredevils from Rajasthan Royals for an undisclosed amount. It will be his 3rd team in IPL. He have also played with Royal Challengers and Deccan Chargers.

Despite of poor form, Delhi Daredevils signed Kevin Pieterson for this season. Delhi bought him by using first transfer window.

And here is some news for our business oriented fellows:
India's largest food product marketing company (who is official sponsor of Indian Contingent to the London Olympics) is keen to sponsor an IPL team.

Key sponsors of IPL teams, including Godrej, Videocon and Emirates, are renegotiating contracts at lower rates and even threatening to quit if demands are not mate.
